"This two-storey home was sat on an resale value goldmine, due to the mountains of empty room sat between their property and its boundary line. We took advantage of this space when designing their side extension, and were able open up the home in order for it to reach its full potential. "

Project details

This end of terrace house in West Drayton underwent a two-storey side extension in order to effectively double the available living space in the house. The ground floor held a new living room, bathroom and utility room, while the first floor extension was used to create a master suite.

Solution

I divided the ground floor extension into a large living room - partially open to the new dining room - a bathroom, and a utility room. The new living room was filled with natural light due to the bifold doors expanding across the rear, looking out onto the garden. Because of the new space added, the existing ground floor layout then had the capacity to be transformed into an open plan kitchen and dining room, with a central island. For the first floor, I designed a master bedroom (with large windows at the rear), a walk-in wardrobe, and an ensuite with a bath and shower.
