Whole House Internal Alterations & First Floor Conversion

Nestled in a road full of two and three storey Victorian terraced houses, this rendered bungalow looked a little out of place. Our architects designed a plan that built another storey onto this property, which not only made it more appropriate for the area, but provided plenty of space for a growing family.

Meet Richard, the Lead Designer

For their new floor, our client wanted to incorporate a master bedroom with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, two additional bedrooms, and a shared family bathroom. This was quite the project, as it was nearly doubling the size of this property. This all needed to be designed in keeping with a contemporary style, with plenty of natural light.

Solution

We designed a second floor that included the rooms previously mentioned. Each room had its own skylight to maximise light (even the walk-in wardrobe!), and the master bedroom included a roof terrace with floor to ceiling glass doors. In order to build the first floor stairs in the most logical way, the wall between the front ground floor bedroom and hallway was knocked through and the stairs were placed there to make a large open entranceway.
