Not only did these homeowners want to increase their property value, but they also had a few other elements they were keen to maintain; enlarge and improve the kitchen-dining space to create an open plan scheme, add bi-fold doors to remove all obstructions between the inside and outside and filling the space with lots of natural light, not disturb the fireplace, add a toilet under the stairs, while keeping their costs to a minimum. Our team had their work cut out for them but in the end delivered the home they wanted, providing them with the comfort they needed, and allowing them to get more out of their garden.
The first challenge of this project involved creating a bigger kitchen and dining space.
Our team started to work on creating a ground-floor side infill that would fill in some of the dead space next to the house. Thanks to this extension, we were able to up the kitchen space and create more room for the dining area. With this additional space, we were able to modernise the kitchen’s assets and add an open plan dining-seating area. Ideal for gathering family and friends in the home.
We also wanted to make sure these homeowners benefited from as much natural light as possible. The idea was to not only improve the wellness and comfort of the home, but also improve the home's energy efficiency. For this, we included bifold doors which are designed with energy efficiency in mind as their design and glazing is manufactured to keep heat in for longer while reducing your energy bill and saving money in the long run. The bifold doors and rooflight respond to their request to find a way to better enjoy their garden and gain more natural light.
It was important for these homeowners that our team worked to fit within their budget while operating with the available space to ensure they add value to their home.
For this, our team made sure to retain as much of the initial structure as possible, in order to keep the price within the budget. Even though their uneven boundary line gave the project an additional challenge for our designers, thanks to their expertise and determination to fulfill the homeowners wishes, they were able to draw up the right plans that would maximise the space and give these homeowners the home they were looking for all along.
