These homeowners were tired of having a dead space right on the side of their house. So, killing two birds with one stone, they decided to use it to provide their kitchen with the extra space they had been wishing for.
Using abandoned space for extra kitchen room
Unused fields around your house can have big potential. These owners for instance used to have some abandoned space, used only for storing items such as their bikes.
With their growing wish to have a bigger kitchen, it soon became clear that this slot in their garden could be put to better use especially with the arrival of a new member to their family. The kitchen and dining area quickly became quite cramped and inconvenient, especially with a newborn, so they turned to our team to carry out their project.
To make their dream home a reality, we started drawing up designs for their ‘ground side infill’ extension to extend and open up their kitchen into that unused space. However, things weren’t as straight forward as they seemed as the side infill was going to be located near a public pipe. This meant that our team needed to apply for a specific planning permission from the local council, not to worry our team delivered and ensured that the owners received a build over agreement so that the works could be completed as originally planned.
Making the most of the summer sun
Sliding glass doors are a great way to make your house more energy-efficient while also being able to save a little money on your utility bill. Patio doors give a pleasant and inviting feel to your home as they let in natural light and create an uninterrupted view onto your garden.
So, answering these homeowners wishes to ensure they get to appreciate the summer weather and sunshine to the fullest, we included bi-fold doors in their brand-new space. This way they can enjoy their garden and patio space even more. Add to that some rooflights, these homeowners now benefit from a space full of natural light.
Without having to move, and with the help of our team, these homeowners were able to enlarge their kitchen and take advantage of their garden space. Allowing them to expand out into an unutilised alleyway and turning it into a much desired living space.
