When the owners of this Victorian terrace approached Resi, they brought a great deal of exciting ideas with them. The property had been in the family since the 1950s, and had barely been updated since. The homeowners wanted to completely modernise, extending the ground floor and altering areas of the first floor, all while staying true to the property’s history.
The addition of a large open-plan kitchen/diner was high on the homeowner’s wish list. Within the space they wanted a kitchen island, lots of light and views of their beautiful garden. These wishes were met in style, with a wraparound extension giving heaps of extra space for a more functioning and accessible open-plan kitchen, a six-seater dining table and a huge worktop island. Large glass windows and doors around the extension provide the extra natural light the homeowners craved, whilst also allowing a view of their garden and patio area. The windows and doors are completed in a modern crittall style, a design the homeowners wanted echoed throughout the house.
The living room and additional dining room were also modernised while maintaining some of the property’s Victorian charm. Both rooms possess their original fireplaces, a classy, eye-catching touch and a testament to the history of the family home. Upstairs interior alterations were also made in order to fix a layout problem which forced bathroom users to go through a bedroom. Both the bathroom and bedroom were contemporised in the process, completing a dramatic home transformation that anyone would feel lucky to live in.
