Vibs works in the NHS as a Clinical Coding Manager, and his wife Samena works for the FCA. They moved into their Morden house during the pandemic, drawn in by the area and the fantastic nearby schools for their daughter, and a sense that this could be a really great place to settle as a family.

The project began in 2024. At the time, the layout featured a fairly narrow kitchen and a separate dining and living space that felt small and quite dark. The brief was clear from the start: create something light, bright, and elegant. With an original budget of £85k, they ended up spending around £100k to bring the full vision to life. Now, the space is completely transformed. The gable roof and bifold doors have opened everything up, flooding the back of the house with natural light. They opted for a raised platform to create a seamless connection between the kitchen and the patio, so when the doors are open in summer, it all flows as one big, open space. They also added in a utility room to keep appliances tucked out of sight, and a generous kitchen island that naturally draws people around it, making the space perfect for hosting. And, having previously just had the one upstairs, a downstairs bathroom which has made a real difference to their everyday life.
