Don't just extend outwards, extend upwards!
This absolutely stunning home belongs to a newlywed couple Cian & Polly who bought the property back in 2020. They purchased the house in good condition - it boasts beautiful original Victorian features throughout, as well as high ceilings and big spacious rooms. However, it came with a tiny galley kitchen (that didn’t even have an extractor fan!) and the roof was in terrible condition. So, it’s safe to say that they bought with renovation in mind.
They came to the Resi team with a vision for an open plan kitchen extension, complemented by large bright double doors in order to make full use of the garden in warm weather. After a few conversations with our designers, much to their delight they also found out that it was possible to make the most of their unused loft space through an L shaped dormer conversion, which would give the property a whole extra bedroom and bathroom. So, equipped with this whole new plan, they decided to not only extend outwards, but also upwards! The project went smooth with Resi achieving planning permission for both parts of the project first time round, with work officially starting the day after the couple’s wedding! And the results are stunning.
“Working with Resi was great and everything went to plan - it’s nice not to be a renovation horror story!”
“We initially were just looking at an extension, but Resi helped us to realise we could actually do the loft too by slightly lowering the ceiling heights on the second floor. We didn’t mind that, as we have our bedroom there and wanted it to feel cosy.”
“Resi were really clever with the space we had, managing to squeeze a fully functional toilet into a tiny space under the stairs, as well as a hidden cupboard for the washing machine.”
