This beautiful home belongs to Rosie, who lives here with her family in Hackney.
Rosie approached Resi in 2022 looking to transform their Hackney property into a forever home for their growing family.
The family felt frustrated by their existing floor plan thanks to the separated nature of the rooms, and were looking for a more sociable, family oriented solution. They had a narrow and poorly lit kitchen at the back of the house, which they strictly used for practical reasons, and a separate dining room in the middle of the house. To the side of the kitchen was an outdoor patio space which wasn't being used for anything in particular and, as a result, felt like a waste.
We extended out into the unused patio space with a simple and impactful ground side infill extension. This created room for their thin galley kitchen to become a spacious, combined kitchen/dining space that spans the width of the house. The addition of skylights above the dining area, French doors and and a rear window have flooded the room with natural light, emphasising the spaciousness they have to cook, relax, eat and play in. An additional bonus of this new arrangement was that the dining room was freed up for repurposing, which has been converted into their kids' playroom.
It's totally changed the way we use our downstairs. The kitchen is now a room you want to be in, rather than just popping in to cook. We hang out in there, host friends for dinner and having a big dining space is really lovely.
We went with Resi as we found the comprehensive service you offer as well as the dashboard really appealing. The dashboard was user friendly, and it was so useful having a central place where everything was kept, especially with emailing and finding documents. Also having a specialist at each stage of the project was really helpful.
