Fifteen years ago, our clients left behind their one-bed flat in Crystal Palace and made the move to Selsdon, where they found and settled into this three-bedroom terraced house. They were craving a bit more space, a garden, and to be close to the countryside but still within easy reach of the city. They absolutely love their terraced house, but space has always been very much at a premium. The original kitchen was narrow, meaning storage and counter space was limited, and although they had always wanted a dishwasher, the lack of space meant they had to forgo owning one for more than a decade.
A project had always been on the cards, but it was a matter of timing. They wanted a kitchen that worked for them, and was a space that you could really enjoy. Not just somewhere to make food, but a space where they could cook together, socialise with friends, or even to focus on some work. A downstairs WC was also high on the list of priorities, and a huge added bonus.
Their newly-designed floorplan means that you can see through to the garden as soon as you enter the house, and the continuous flooring from front to back creates a seamless feel throughout. Thanks to the glazing and the raised roofline of the extension, light now floods the home. A kitchen island was high on their wish list, but their designer opted for a peninsula instead, which works so much better with the available space, and does a great job of separating the kitchen from the living area while still retaining a very open plan feel.
To us, home is somewhere to escape, but also to be inspired. We now have an amazing space to work, cook or relax in, and despite the fact we have had the extension for a while now, we still appreciate it every morning.
Everyone at Resi was incredibly supportive, and always nice to deal with. We changed our minds on the design a few times, and it was never a problem. We would definitely recommend Resi to everyone.
