This striking rear extension is the latest addition to the home of curator Gemma Rolls Bentley, writer Danielle Wilde and their two young children.
Gemma and Danielle originally heard about Resi after a friend recommended us and then, in 2020, they spotted us at a pop-up in Brixton and the rest is history. Gemma, who has worked in the tech sphere for a number of years, was especially sold by the Resi dashboard and the ease of managing everything digitally in one place. Working closely with the Resi team and interior designer Mairéad Moran, they brought the vision for their family home to life.
When the homeowners originally purchased the property they bought with renovation in mind, as the kitchen and living room were small with limited natural light. As well as wanting more space, the property was desperately in need of some TLC as it hadn't been renovated since before the 70s!
The extension really opens up the back of the house, flooding the space with natural light from both the doors and the windows that have been installed in the roof. The room certainly feels spacious, with a large kitchen/dining area on one side of the extension, and a living space/reading nook with built-in bookshelves on the other. To the right of the kitchen there's a utility area plus a cosy home office space facing the window with views of the garden - perfect for keeping an eye on the kids while you get your head down with some work.
This project is the ultimate example of how your home can be truly reflective of you as a homeowner. Gemma tells us, ‘As a curator I spend my professional life surrounded by art that inspires me, it's really important to me as a mum that I share that gift with my children. Our home houses a beautiful art collection and we've created a space that reflects our values and gives our queer family an environment full of imagination, learning and possibility.’
'It's amazing, we can't believe this is actually our house. It's so beautiful.'
'I've worked in tech for a long time, so I was really excited to work with a company implementing technology-focused solutions in order to improve an industry.'
