In order to kick start any project, you’ll need accurate existing drawings of your home. Depending on the type of development you are carrying out, these can include floor plans, elevations, a section, site plan, and roof plan - all required by both our designers and your local planning authority.

How a guided measured survey works
With our team there to guide you through each step, carrying out your own survey is as easy as one, two, three (four and five).
You upload photos of your property, along with any existing information you might already have. This could be floor plans put together by your estate agent or drawings from a previous project.
Alongside these uploads, our team will go through online resources and touch base with your local authority to find any additional data that might be available on your home. We’ll then put together your bespoke survey guide, so you have a detailed plan to get yourself started.
Keep an eye on your letterbox, you’ve got a friend on the way. We’ll be sending over Disto, a handy surveying assistant, you can use to take your measurements. This bit of tech will not only make your work highly accurate, but also that much easier too. All we ask is that you send it back to us when you’re done.
Using both your tailored guide and Disto, you’ll be able to start measuring up. Your assigned surveyor will only be a phone / video call away to offer any help you might need and will ensure you gather everything we’ll need to put your drawings together.
Upload everything to your dashboard and voilà! Our team will get to work putting together your existing drawings. Once your drawings are complete, you’ll be all set to start the design process.
Who or what is a Disto?
Disto is the affectionate name we give our ‘handheld laser distance meters’, a tool surveyors use to collect highly accurate measurements with ease. While they’re not the cutest robots, they will make gathering key measurements much easier.
Once you’ve decided to go for a guided survey, we’ll pack your Disto up and send it over, complete with a how-to guide so you can both get to know each other a little better.
Benefits of a guided survey
A 100% remote service
With the UK in lockdown, many companies, including Resi, are unable to provide on-site property visits. Even if these restrictions are lifted by the government, it may be some time before many of us feel comfortable letting people into our homes. Therefore, a guided survey provides the perfect solution for getting your project underway during these challenging circumstances.
And thanks to your Resi dashboard, you can go through to the design stage and beyond from the comfort of your home. With this method, you to use this quiet time to get those early stages of your project completed.
A cost-effective alternative
Good news for the budget-conscious, our guided surveys are significantly cheaper than their on-site counterparts. By eliminating the need for transport and the time a survey requires from our team, you can save plenty of pennies by gathering the measurements on our behalf. The only costs you will need to factor in is the hours it’ll take for our team to convert this data into existing drawings.
All our prices are tailored to your unique requirements, so simply get in touch to discover how much you can save.
The quickest way to get started
Are you raring to go on your project? If so, a guided survey might just be for you.
Rather than having to wait for a surveying slot to become available, you simply need to wait a few days for your Disto to arrive. You’ll then be able to drive right into your journey, proceeding in a timely manner that doesn’t affect the quality of your project.
Is a guided survey right for you?
While guided surveys might work wonders for a lot of homeowners, some might find this hands-on approach doesn’t work for them. For example, larger projects or those in homes with special challenges might actually require an on-site visit.
The best way to discover what’s right for your home is to take advantage of our free consultations. Together with our team, we’ll advise on everything from surveys, timings, budget and beyond; allowing you to start your project in total confidence.
